Christmas List For Primary School Children
Supporting our Child Artists
I recently attended a primary school, to do a workshop with just the children that had experiences with unstable living. I was expecting 3 maybe 5 kids. There were 15 kids in that class. Some of them had been moved from hotel to hotel and some of them had actually slept on the streets of this very city.
As part of the exhibition we getting them to draw what they want for Christmas. With the funds raised we hope to get enough to buy them their gifts.
If we don’t get enough for their item we will give them something similar, suggestions of popular kids toys are welcome!

Streetwise Opera is an opera company that enables people who’ve experienced homelessness to find inspiration and empowerment while they rebuild their lives and identities. We support participants to develop as creative people and, as we amplify their voices, change how society views homelessness.

People who experience homelessness very often suffer from a diminished sense of self-worth and low expectations about what they can achieve and what they can expect from life. Streetwise Opera performers reinvent themselves as creators who make the world more beautiful and have the power to bring audiences to their feet. This gives them the confidence and inspiration to rebuild their lives.

About our voucher scheme
Artists that are not currently in secure housing are being supported directly by having the funds raised by their art work converted into vouchers of their choosing.
